I love how you shifted between the picture of the bleachers to your brother!! Really cool and creative way of showing photos! Your music goes really well with the upbeat feeling before a game. Great video overall.
I really liked the scene at the end where the music turns off and you hear his heartbeat. I feel like that captured the entire moment and feeling of nerves.
The heartbeat at the beginning and end were brilliant. They really really carried the piece through the emotion. The picture slide was distracting, but I'm very glad you stuck with a monochromatic colour palette.
Repetitive actions convey nervousness very well. You had some of that. I would imagine that an athlete repeats plays in his head or movements during practice.
I would've liked to see more video as opposed to photos. Some are good but maybe not that many. I do like the black and white though, and how you stopped the music when he took the headphones off.
I think the emotion you were trying to achieve was presented in the video. I kind of wish it was in color but I also like the black and white, maybe muted color would have been cool. I wish you would have used more video rather than photos. I think the emotion would have been stronger that way. Nice video overall!!
I think that the pictures kind of makes the video slow down. It would have looked better if there was some clips in the place of the video. If you did everything you did with the pictures but with video clips it would have been better.
I like your action shots intermixed with the stills, however I think I would have liked to see a bit more action. Maybe have your talent recreate the stills to then go into motion. I really like how you synced your audio up to him putting the headphones on, and then the pounding heartbeat when he took them off. That is probably what helped to emphasize the idea of nervousness at the end.
Spending a little more time working with the audio would help allow the transitions from the heartbeat to the music would make it smoother, and then when you had to put two tracks together. I liked that you used his prep for a game as your video but try getting more angles so you don't have to use pictures! Good Concept though, it's really cool!
I liked that you took a different approach to the emotion you chose. Some of the images, I wish it was were shot as motion video instead, like the guy sitting in the bleachers before the game, maybe instead it could have been a shot with him sitting and maybe his leg is nervously shaking because of his pregame jitters. BUUUT other than that one still shot I liked the idea and the editing/with still photography.
I really liked the shot of your brother cracking his knucles. I can really relate to that! and your images are amazing.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of stills. I would have loved to see more short videos of the actor looking nervous.

ReplyDeleteGood job keeping the shots to the music. Perhaps more shots of him on the field.
