       This Narrative video project will have a horror/scary genre to it. The title is "An Unexpected Visitor” with the tagline “When traditions take an unexpected turn…” The concept will include 2-3 friends going to a Christmas tree farm together (the Christmas tree farm we will be going to is Hensler Nursery in Hamlet, IN). As a few friends stay behind for hot chocolate, the first/main character we introduce is going to go off on her own to look for a tree. Throughout the time she is looking we will shoot scenes of a ‘creepy Santa’ in the distance of our Character 1 that will be watching her and eventually start chasing after her. After a wild chase, she will catch up with her friends, try to play it cool, and ask her friends to leave. No one will ever know what happened but the viewers and Character 1.
      We chose this tree farm specifically just because it has many other exhibits other than the Christmas tree farm. It also includes a Meet Santa area, reindeer, they have a hot chocolate stand, etc., so we can get shots of other things Christmas like, not just a tree farm.

 Script: 

Ext. Early afternoon in early December, friends decide to go look for a Christmas tree at a tree farm. The friends walk out of the car and towards the hot chocolate area. 

Character 1: While you guys wait in line, I’m gonna get a head start on looking for a tree. Not feeling any hot chocolate today. 

(Friends say okay quietly and nod as Character 1 walks out to the farm. Jolly Christmas music in the background will slowly turn into fast paced, scary music as Character 1 feels like someone is watching her. With many quick turn arounds and jumping behind tree to tree to see if anyone is watching her, she figures she is fine and continues happily. Then, after a few more sounds of branches breaking behind her from being stepped on, she takes a quick look back, she spots a Creepy Santa behind a tree staring at her. They lock eyes and Creepy Santa hides quickly behind a tree. Character 1 panics and starts to run away. She stumbles a few times as she feels Creepy Santa is getting closer and closer as he chases her. Finally, without paying attention, she finds herself arriving back at the hot chocolate line with her friends.  Creepy Santa is no where to be seen.)

 Friend 1: What’s wrong? Why are you so out of breath? 

Friend 2: What happened? 

Character 1: *out of breath and panic like* Didn't you just see that!?

(Friend 1 & 2 look confused)

Character 1 (con't): Ugh, nothing. We should go to another tree farm; this place is dull. 

 (Group leaves the farm. In a distant we the viewers catch a glimpse of Creepy Santa watching them leave in the distance.) 

 END SCENE

Quotes/ Phrases 1. This is a quote from a conversation an elderly man and I had here on campus of IUSB. Elderly man: "I'm happy." Me: "Oh, I am glad you're happy!" Elderly man: "Are you happy?" Me: "I am." Elderly man: "I am happy because not of what I have and my possessions, but because of what is in my heart...and Notre Dame." 2. This conversation I heard from a mother and daughter shopping in the mall. Mom: "Ugh, that's too expensive for a sweater. No." Daughter: "Mom, no it's not, you're just being cheap again." Mother: "Oh, stop" 3. This conversation was held while I was in a music store between two friends. *2 teenagers listening to a song* Boy 1: "Oh! I meant to go get this song once I heard you playin' it in your car with them subs!" Boy 2: "You stealin' my music man?!" (jokingly) Boy 1: "Nah, I like your music!" 4. This quote was heard when I was on my way into the mall in the parking lot between a son and father. Dad: "Ugh oh! The mall is lit up- its Christmas!!" Son: "...it's not even Thanksgiving." Dad: "So! Look how nice that looks. You're gonna help me put up the lights again this year." Son: "No way, I did it last year. It's Bryce's turn." 5. This quote was a conversation that my mother and I had, my mother said this to me in the car: Mom: "I know you're stuck on what do to, but sometimes the punishment is worth the crime! You'll be fine." Script: Love for Notre Dame by Morgan Talos EXT. A dark, rainy night inside a nursing home. Esteban walks along the railing of the wall at his new home, a retirement living center. He heads down to the eating area as he awaits the normal visitors that come and visit the elderly people every Tuesday night. He is walking slowly with his cane in hand, and sees his granddaughter, who is always on time and ready to spend quality time with grandpa. RAIN SPRINKLES on the windows and LIGHTNING STRIKES as he walks into an open room. ESTEBAN I have a great story for you tonight, Cara! I have been thinking about this one a lot. He sits down slowly in a chair next to his granddaughter. ESTEBAN (CONT’D) (out of breath) But first, tell me, how did your first week living with your roommate go? Are you happy? Because I am happy. CARA Oh, I am glad you’re happy! ESTEBAN Are you happy? CARA I am. ESTEBAN I am happy because not of what I have and my possessions, but because of what is in my heart...and Notre Dame. EXT: Scene fades out as granddaughter and grandfather being to talk deeply together.

Documentary Subject

For a documentary, I think it would be interesting to interview Pam VanHuffel. Pam VanHuffel was a school teacher all her life, from graduating from college at Purdue, to her retirement. Pam has seen many changes with regulations to teachings, as well with the changes students are given with technology. Pam has gotten the inside look of how technology has changed the way of teaching, for better and for worse. If we did an interview on Pam, it would be interesting to do a documentary of how educational curriculum's have changed with the change in technology throughout the years, to now. We could do the documentary on advantages and disadvantages. Questions: 1. What was most rewarding about attending Purdue to study teaching? 2. Was it easy for you to get teaching jobs when you first started out as a teacher? 3. When technology grew and started being used in classrooms, was it hard for you to continue enjoying teaching? 4. When you first started teaching, what was your favorite part of the job? 5. When you got towards the end of your teaching career, did your favorite part of the job change? If so, what did your favorite aspect of teaching evolve to? 6. Do you think all of the technology used with students today is positive or negative? Why? 7. What was the biggest change or challenge that you faced when technology took off for educating students? 8. What was the biggest challenge that you faced when curriculum would change every few years? 9. Did you catch on to the growth in technology easily? Or did you struggle? 10. Did many of your coworkers tend to struggle and be challenged with the growth of technology?
